Bruce Weber’s Most Rustic Chic Photograph

Everyone knows photographer Bruce Weber’s work (www.bruceweber.com).  Best known for shooting beautiful people in various stages of dress (or undress), Weber entered iconic status long ago.  However, in looking though his tome “Blood, Sweat and Tears – Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love Fashion”, I came across his 1995 photo of Deborah Viven Cavendish, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire.

It’s an ironic and light-hearted dichotomy – landed gentry doing the chores.  The image sums up what this blog is without a word.  But if you need a little verbiage about what Rustic Chic is all about, here it is:  ballgown, evening coat, serious jewelry, bucket of corn, chicken coop (French doors – nice touch, Deb!), hens, opera tickets.
