Is Black the New White?

While paging through the past couple of issues of the Brit interior design mags, my eye kept lighting on all the home appliances that manufacturers are now offering in black.  Is this a fad or a trend with legs?  These are, however, very rustic chic, but what would Van Day Truex have said?

For my money, I’ll stick with classic white, as shown in the barn’s kitchen above, keeping the black limited to the honed Black Absolute granite countertops and oil rubbed bronze drawer hardware.
