Or a Single Blossom . . . Still

I am apparently on a flower and nature kick.  Must be due to the change of seasons and all the green that is beginning to slowly emerge.  I plopped a single dogwood blossom into a plot of wheatgrass for the photo above and was reminded of an old Serbian proverb:

“Be humble, for you are made of the earth.

Be noble, for you are made of the stars.”

Spring is like a perhaps hand . . .

Spring is like a perhaps hand

(which comes carefully out of Nowhere)

arranging a window, into which people look

(while people stare arranging and changing placing carefully there a strange thing

and a known thing here) and

changing everything carefully

spring is like a perhaps

Hand in a window

(carefully to and fro moving New and Old things, while

people stare carefully moving a perhaps

fraction of flower here placing

an inch of air there) and

without breaking anything.

e.e. cummings

Come! Sweet Spring!

A bright and beautiful Saturday morning had me out walking the hayfields, searching for a glimmer – any slight hope – that spring is near.  And lo!  As I rounded the red barn, the sweetest of seasons, the most gentle, begins her slow ballet of the green, green grass of home.
