“In The Ear, 1865” by George Cochran Lambdin (1830-1896)

Ok, so I’m a sucker for bucolic and romantic art.  And when I came across this painting, “In The Ear, 1865,” by George Cochran Lambdin at the Park Avenue Armory Antiques Show last evening, I was instantly charmed.  I must admit that with a price tag of $265,000, the romance factor downshifted a bit, but still the subject brought a smile to my face.  I wonder if that’s an ear of popcorn she’s holding?
