I was just thinking (actually, lamenting) to myself the other day – why don’t you ever see scarecrows in fields anymore? My granddaddy always had a sharp-looking dude in overalls hanging out in his cornfield. Perhaps they’ve gone the way of carbon paper and typewriter erasers. But as I was driving home and as there was some road work going on along my usual route, I took a detour. And lo! a scarecrow rowing a rowboat on a pond! It was such an unexpected site on this overcast fall afternoon that I just had to snap a few pictures of him, thereby proving that sometimes it’s Rustic Chic to pond-tificate.
