Late summer dining outdoors. What can I say? It’s a great pleasure IF you don’t have to contend with blazing heat and the omnipresent bugs which are part and parcel of the season. But a wonderful friend kindly offered to dish up the grub on her breezy screened porch if I’d set the table (and wash the dishes after). And since I jump at the chance to set a beautiful table, I trucked over the china, napkins, cutlery, glassware, decanters, cachepots and a huge antique urn along with armloads of hydrangeas for the otherwise low-key supper. The hostess’ large collection of white-painted iron tables and painted wicker furniture were the perfect foil against all the crisp white and green. A Rustic Chic good time was had by all!
