After three days of heavy snow removal, I decided to sit down with (another) hot toddy last night and dream about all the rustic chic gardening activities that are just around the corner. And one of the most stylish, inspiring and knowledgeable gardening experts around to get you on the right track is Dianne Benson.
As the owner of and designer for her eponymous Dianne B stores, she also owned the first Comme des Garcons USA stores and was the first to import such avant-garde designer collections as Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier.
As a gardening and lifestyle writer for Hamptons Cottages & Gardens magazine, Dianne dispenses very entertaining and authoritative advice on all things plot, patch or patio. A few years ago, she wrote “DIRT: The Lowdown on Growing a Garden with Style”, which has become a classic. She also writes a most informative blog at http://diannebbest.blogspot.com.
Dianne also has a web site (www.diannebbest.com) where she sells some amazing gardening implements. The image at the top of this post shows her “Ten Best”. Check out the site for complete details on these beautiful and useful items for yourself or the rustic chic gardener in your life (tip: you’ll really dig the monogrammed shovel).
All told, by spending a little time with Dianne B, especially if it’s bitterly cold where you are right now, you’ll see your thumbs turn from blue to green!
