Cherries in the Snow

Actually it’s bittersweet, not cherries (but you knew that).  A brisk walk this morning around the scrub-line, which separates the back hay field from our neighbor’s farm, and a few moments to breathe deeply of the numbing winter air revealed masses of bittersweet entwined in the fencing as it danced up the naked trees nearby.  It’s amazing to witness how the brutal season can all but strip the landscape of vibrant color, but the bright and bold bittersweet valiantly faces the challenge and retains its title as “Most Rustic Chic Vine”.
