Putting the Shine on Rustic Chic

It went straight from fall to winter in the blink of an eye.  The cold and brisk days of winter are all right, but it’s when there’s a long stretch of dull and grey days that you have to brighten things up a bit.  And so to me the perfect silver lining to winter’s frigid grasp and threatening clouds means breaking out and dusting off the mercury glass.  Their mottled luster gently reflects the subdued light of the season and always lends a bit of understated shimmer to a home.

The pieces here vary in age and the amount of sheen they provide but that just makes the grouping all the more interesting and, of course, rustic chic.

The mercury glass pinecone above is huge!  It’s 13″ in length and weighs 4 pounds!  The mercury glass artichoke is smaller at 6″ in length.
